June 1, 2013 The Morley Farm & Log Schoolhouse

Dad, Elder Weaver, Mom - Site of Log Schoolhouse

The Morley Log Schoolhouse

On the top of this hill, the Morley family built a log schoolhouse for their seven children and for the children of friends and neighbors living on adjoining farms.

In the Morley schoolhouse, the Latter-day Saints held some of their earliest meetings in Kirtland, including the fourth conference of the Church, which convened here 3-6 June 1831.  In meetings accompanied by profound spiritual manifestations, the first high priests in the Church were ordained.  Missionaries were also called to go to Missouri.

In this conference much instruction was given by President Smith, who spoke in great power, as he was moved by the Holy Ghost; and the spirit of power and of testimony rested down upon the Elders in a marvelous manner.  --Parley P. Pratt

Sister Jones, Elder Jones, Elder Weaver
We had a great spiritual experience with Elder and Sister Jones at this site.  We were the only ones on this visit but it was the most spiritual discussions we had so far on the trip.  Mom and I would love to serve missions some day to church sites.
