February 7, 2012
Something I have kind of been thinking about this is that investigators aren't the "missionaries investigators", they are the Ward or Branches investigators.  What they see and know of the Church is what and who the members are.  Missionaries’ leave, members stay.  The members are the key to helping them with the conversion process and retaining those who join.  It's very difficult when missionaries are the teachers and the fellow shippers.  My mission has changed my life and I will be more dedicated to this work for the remainder of my life now that I understand how it works.
February 7, 2012
Something I have been thinking about is how important it is to really know the scriptures.  As I have come to better understand the scriptures and know where things are at, the Spirit has been better able to draw upon that knowledge to help investigators.  I have found as I really listen to the investigator and the Spirit, a scripture and or thought of what will help them always come to mind.  It finally hit me this last week.

Transfers and driving up to Cleveland.  Saying goodbye to Elder Jarvis and say hello to Elder Tollefsen.  Elder Weaver will be training him for at least the next 3 months.  How transfers work is all Elders or Sisters getting transferred meet at the Kirtland Stake Center and we are all sitting in the chapel with the Zone Leaders and Assistants and President and Sister Sorensen on the stand.  All the new Elders and trainers sit in the first two rows (the new trainers have a previous meeting to find out who their trainer/trainee will be), we will have a short meeting, all the departing missionaries bear their testimony and then the Zone Leaders announce who will be working with who in each new area, and then you go leave to your areas and get to work.
March 5, 2012

Four of us missionaries here were asked to speak at church on Sunday.  My topic was D&C section 4. This last Sunday were 23 either investigators or inactive members we have been working with here in the Ward who attended church on Sunday. The classes were full, and it was great to see so many of our brothers and sisters attend and are able to feel the Spirit with us.  In addition to speaking we sang the missionary medley as a musical number.  Then after church we all ran to a senior/disabled living center and did a musical devotional there.

Baptism of Kaelon Moore (9).
August 26, 2012
Bishop Talbot spoke powerfully to the members of the Ward about the Lord intends to gather the saints in this area beyond the capacity of this building.  He boldly invited each of us to love one another and to forgive those who may have wronged us in any way.  Speaking with members afterwards we heard several people forgiving and loving those that they have previously disliked.  The spirit is present and powerfully present in this Ward.  One of my favorite parts of his talk was, “your are neither qualified nor have the authority to judge yourself or others.”

Mission is preparing for a big storm from the hurricane hitting the Easter Missions.  Reporting to the mission president how all the missionaries in the mission are doing and how prepared they are for the storm.
November 5, 2012
The storm did caused power to be out for 2 days but some missionaries had 4 days.  Many flooded basements and trees on power lines.  Hearts are softened by the acts of service the missionaries are providing.  After the storm passed we held Mission Council with all the Zone Leaders, as well as the Trainers Meeting for all the new trainers for this next transfer.  Today is Arrival Day of all the new Elders & Sisters and then tomorrow is Transfers and Departures.  Everyone will find out who their new companion is and where they will be serving.  Then we assist the departing missionaries to the mission home for their final night and then off to the airport early the next morning.  Also set a goal to baptize by the end of the year 6 converts.
November 6, 2012
Picked up new arriving missionaries at the airport with the mission van and trailer.  Then spend time with the new arrivals and do some training to help them get excited to get out to work.
November 7, 2012
Take the new arriving missionaries to the Kirkland temple and other sites.  Then off to the stake center for transfers, where we have a brief meeting, announce new companionships, say goodbye to the departing missionaries and then the moving of baggage and missionaries to vehicles to get them where they need to go.  Then later today we take all the departing missionaries to the School of the Prophets to give an accounting of their mission to the Lord.  An awesome experience.  Then spend the rest of the day at the mission home going over the departure packet, and helping them get set to depart early the next morning.
November 8, 2012
Spent a quite a bit planning with President Vellinga for the upcoming zone conference that will be held at the Kirtland Temple / Visitors center.  We are focusing on the theme of building faith in Jesus Christ, finding those that God has prepared to hear the restored gospel, and to celebrate the birth of Christ.

December 7, 2012
Traveled to two Zone Meetings and trained on the new training. It’s been fun to go and train these things to other missionaries and see a new light come on as they recognize how much of a difference these changes will make in their service.
December 10, 2012
With the new MTC time being two weeks our departure date is most likely moving up a week, so the last week in May 2013 is when I will be now departing the mission.

We have a Staff Meeting every week with the President.  Every week we get a list of arrivals and departing missionaries.  Elder Weaver’s transfer is now on the list.
January 28, 2013
Staying very busy with office responsibilities.  We have transfers, mostly finalized, travel arrangements made, training for the month scheduled, and Zone Conference will be in the works next week in preparation for the following week.  This next transfer will be 5 weeks as opposed to the normal 6 weeks since this is the transfer that the time missionaries spend in the MTC will be shortened by a third.
February 4, 2013
Transfers ran smoothly and all the missionaries are where they need to be.  Four new missionaries that came in had various colds and then it got the missionaries in the office sick.  Lots of vitamin C, Orange Juice, and some other neat little things mom gave to me.  It is a cool experience to see a bunch of new missionaries come in and a bunch going home.
February 11, 2013
Got a call from a new investigator named David.  He has some LDS friends growing up and they recently challenged him to meet the missionaries.  Last Sunday had a Mission President Fireside, which had a few investigators there.

February 25, 2013
Had various meetings today.  There is tons happening and in motion right now in preparations transfers and opening up 24 new areas.  Getting 29 new missionaries and calling 29 new trainers then moving them around to new areas.  President Vellinga asked if I would either be a Zone Leader or be a trainer.  Elder Weaver would like to be a trainer again but will see what happens at transfers.

I am loving the new area, new companion, new investigators, and new members.  We had our first 3 lessons with new investigators our first 3 days her an 2 of them have a date for baptism in April and the other should have on in our next lesson.  Set a goal to visit all the active members in the next 3 weeks to get referrals then meet with all the less-active.
March 25, 2013

April 1, 2013
Easter was a great day.  Several non-members attended the Ward’s Easter Program.  After church helped another ward member continue to move out.  Scheduled Cortina for a May 11th Baptism.  The Bishop may marry Cortina and her fiancé in the ward building.  Is thinking about whether to ship the bike home or not.
April 11, 2013
We were helping a Unitarian church group who came to visit our Church building.  There were about 25 adults and children that came.  This group has been visiting many different churches over the school year to learn about other faiths and our was the last one they are studying for the school year.
April 22, 2013
Met a really neat guy in when typing up my email to the family.  He said he spotted us when we walked into the room and saw a light from us.  Elder Weaver was going to sit somewhere else but felt impressed to sit by this young man.  Elder Weaver is going to try to keep in contact with this person as he travels.
April 29, 2013
Happy 21st Birthday Elder Weaver.  He is 2 inches smaller in the waist and neck but has not shrunk in height.  Going to sell the mission bike on Craiglist.  Continuing to progress Tinisha and Leeneal to baptism on May 18th
May 6, 2013
I can hardly believe I have less than a month left here in the Ohio.  For my Birthday we had pie and ice cream at night, but for lunch we went to The Melt.  A super amazing grilled cheese sandwiches.  In the process of selling my bike and holding out for $400.  Awesome the Davis Family has 3 missionaries out all at the same time.  Julio’s understanding is coming along.  He will be a great Kingdome builder.  Tinisha and Leeneal weren’t able to meet last week so this will bump there baptismal date to May 25th.  Stake Conference was great.  We heard many talks on strengthening home and family through the Priesthood and also tithing being a principle of faith.  Saw a webinar with President Monson, President Uchtdorf, Elder Robert C. Gay of the Seventy, Sister Mary Wixom President of General Primary, and Elder Robert D. Hales.
